The Fiesta Movement has begun.
For those of you who do not know, I have been given a 2011 Ford Fiesta to drive around for the next 6 months, recording shenanigans and other such tomfoolery. This weekend, I went off to NYC to finally get my car. To be quite honest, I didn’t believe it until we pulled up on the racetrack and saw them all there. But I’m way ahead of myself here.
I got into NYC in the afternoon with a few other of the Fiesta Movement Agents. To be honest, I wasn’t feeling particularly social, but I tried to do my best. We got in, and were shown to our rooms. They met us with a cool printed T-shirt and a pair of brand new Adidas Sneakers. Sick. I went up to find that I had a room in the Doubletree Suites IN Times Sqaure. Can it get better? I had a view. On the 33’rd floor.
I met some people that I really liked, on in particular. Seth (http://fiestamovement.com/agents/view/85) is a awesome dude from Vermont, and everyone should check out his stuff. He did a rally car ride all over Europe, making him (CRE) Certified Rugged Explorer- a title only awarded to my father and myself thus far. Shout out to him and his lovely wife (and daughter!) if he is reading this.
We went to the Penthouse Suite of a place called MPE. It was all glass with a beautiful view of the NYC skyline. Open bar. I just looked around and couldn’t believe I was in a place like that. I met some local media people, and all the other North East Coast agents. Met up with an old friend, Dylan Klymenko (http://fiestamovement.com/agents/view/96) who is an Emerson Grad and generally funny dude.
The night ended with meeting up with all the agents, staff, including Ana Vison (who told me about the Fiesta movement and thus I owe her bigtime) at a bar and we all just cut loose. Went back to my place and soaked my legs for a bit, which are still sore. Thanks, Kru Mark.
The next day, we had morning training, and then we left for the racetrack. I fell asleep and to wake up in New Jersey, and there they were. The fiestas. These cars are SICK. Push button ignition, keyless entry, bluetooth on the phone. It’s awesome. Shocking, I could find no cruise control. But I’ll have to look.
Had dinner with Mom and Dad, and I’m headed back to Boston. Thinking about investing in a GPS. We’ll see.
